Scouting Report: Darrion Henry
We had a chance to catch Darrion Henry in action in Week One of his sophomore season. We came away impressed and feeling new Cincinnati Princeton head coach Mike Daniels has one of the top prospects in the 2020 recruiting class on his hands.
PROSPECT: Darrion Henry
POSITION HS: Defensive End / PROJECTS: Defensive Tackle/ Offensive Line
HOMETOWN: Cincinnati, Ohio
HIGH SCHOOL: Princeton
HT: 6-5 / WT: 240 lbs.
Make no mistake… one of the top prospects in Ohio is in Cincinnati and at Princeton High School in the form of Darrion Henry.
While someone might look to use his athletic ability as an offensive tackle, we’ll look at what Henry brings to the field as a future college defensive lineman.
The first thing that stands out is how nimble Henry is on his feet. Already around the 240-pound range, Henry is a great bender with a great get-off from the line of scrimmage. While at times he’ll get a little too high, he brings great physicality to offensive linemen rarely being pushed back with first engagement.
Not only does Henry have a great burst at the line of scrimmage, he’s also explosive from his hips and shows a great closing burst.
As Henry continues to develop as an overall player, we expect him to get even better with his hand placement and punch. He’s solid now but can get so much better. Add in the fact he’s got the ability to anchor and hold the line of scrimmage and you can see why we’re super excited about Henry’s future.
One thing noticed in watching film is how coordinated and aware Henry is on the field. In a couple of plays, Henry notice a loose or tipped ball, grab it out of the air and made a positive play.
At the season opener against West Clermont High School. I tweeted that Mike Daniels has some great talent in the 2020 class. Henry is getting the early talk with offers from Toledo and Cincinnati.

If Henry continues to do the work on and off the field and stays healthy, he’ll become one of the most sought-after prospects in Ohio with many projecting him with a future to play on Sunday’s.
Pros: Size, Strength, Quickness, Athletic Ability
Cons: Too much too soon?
