No. 12 Bearcats get 10th in a row against Pirates 86-60

It has been a lot of chaos in the AAC the week, SMU and Houston beat Wichita State giving Cincinnati sole possession of first place in the conference. They currently have a nine game winning streak and were looking to make it 10 at the expense of the Pirates.

In the first half the Pirates were up until around the 11 minute mark due to hot shooting, but Cane Broome has led the charge to push to give Cincinnati a 46-38 lead at the half. Broome has seven points, three rebounds and three assists. Jarron Cumberland has nine points (finished with 14). ECU shot 55 percent from the field, but they have nine turnovers while Cincinnati only has one turnover and has made all of their free throws (10/10).

In the second half Cincinnati came out a little sluggish allowing ECU to get the game within five, but it wasn’t meant to be for the Pirates as Cincinnati turned the jets back on to push the game up to 12 points with 10:19 left in the second half. Broome helped push the tempo and Kyle Washington and Gary Clark filled the lines to help this run. Washington had a monster block and an and one on the other end, while Clark sealed up another double double during the run. Jacob Evans put on a personal show showing the skills that have NBA scouts drooling getting to the hole with an in and out dribble using the glass for a finish and following it up with a three to put Cincinnati up 15 with 7:16 to go.

Clark finishes with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Washington and Evans tie for the team high in points with 17. The Bearcats are now 17-2 overall and 6-0 in the AAC after taking care of business 86-60. They play Temple Wednesday at home.

Managing Editor of Bearcat Insider, I've been on the BCI team the last couple of years. I made the final four in the Biggest Big East Fan contest in 2011, I covered UC also on Cincy on the Prowl. I'm just a lefty trying to get buckets in this game called life Van Exel style.
