Cincinnati pushes past Georgia State in Round of 64, 68-53

With Miami and Arizona (sixth and third seed in the South) being upset the night before it gave Cincinnati fans a lot of reason to be excited and a lot of reason to be nervous. Could Cincinnati be the next high seed to be upset?

For most of the first half he seemed like the No. 2 seed had a high chance of being the highest seed to go down so far as Georgia State’s guard D’Marcus Simonds scored 16 straight points for his squad. Georgia State jumped out to an 8-1 lead to start the game, but hot shooting from guard Jarron Cumberland kept Cincinnati afloat. Cumberland scored 16 of his career high 27 points in the first half. Cincinnati took a 35-30 lead into the half.

In the second half the Bearcats were down for a brief second, but they started to wear on the over matched Panthers and went on to win 68-53. The biggest scare of the half was Gary Clark going down with an injury to his leg/hip area, but he came back and everything seems to be on the up and up.

Check out my vlog on the win and quick thoughts on Nevada.

Managing Editor of Bearcat Insider, I've been on the BCI team the last couple of years. I made the final four in the Biggest Big East Fan contest in 2011, I covered UC also on Cincy on the Prowl. I'm just a lefty trying to get buckets in this game called life Van Exel style.
