Wayne High School defensive back Justin Harris received his first Division-I offer from the Cincinnati Bearcats this weekend and Bearcat Insider was able to catch up with the member of the 2019 class.
Bearcat Insider: How big was it to get your first offer before your junior year started?
Harris: It was big to have Cincy as my first offer because I’ve always dreamed about playing for the Bearcats when I was a little kid. Also getting my first offer before the year started because it shows that Division I schools are starting to take notice.
Bearcat Insider: What do you like about this Cincinnati program?
Harris: What I like about the Cincinnati program is the atmosphere, it is an passionate place to play at. The coaching staff is one of a kind in Cincy and I have a good relationship with them.
Bearcat Insider: Which coaches have you been in contact with?
Harris: I’ve been in contact with coach Martinez (Cornerback coach) and coach Freeman (defensive coordinator/linebackers coach). Freeman graduated from Wayne also, he knows how to find talent.
Bearcat Insider: What aspects of your game do you want to work on? What do you feel are your strengths?
Harris: I feel like my is game is strong throughout my whole game. Some points that I need to work on is staying consistent with my technique (coaches have been working with me on). Breaking and closing on the wide receiver every time. My strengths are playing man to man coverage. I love being on an island guarding the best receiver on the opposite team. My coaches trust me with that aspect of my game.
Bearcat Insider plans on following Justin throughout his recruiting process, will he be the next Ohio kid to commit? Only time will tell.
