Bearcats safety Malik Clements earns American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week

If you watched the 122nd Victory Bell game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and Miami RedHawks you saw a game that was very exciting. It looked like the RedHawks were going to break the 11 game Bearcats winning streak until late in the fourth quarter the visiting team’s offense woke up and it was capped off by a 14 yard pick six by safety Malik Clements. The pick six put the Bearcats up for good with 1:04 left in the game. They pushed the streak to 12 in a row with a thrilling 21-17 victory.

The aftermath of the game was that Malik Clements won American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the Week 3. Clements had 7 tackles and 1 interception (1 touchdown) on Saturday.

Congrats to the junior from Danville, Virginia.

Managing Editor of Bearcat Insider, I've been on the BCI team the last couple of years. I made the final four in the Biggest Big East Fan contest in 2011, I covered UC also on Cincy on the Prowl. I'm just a lefty trying to get buckets in this game called life Van Exel style.
