Bearcats Make Light Work Of Tulsa, 80-61

The Cincinnati Bearcats looked like a well-oiled machine against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, they say it is hard to beat a team three times in one season, but that wasn’t the case on Friday night. Cincinnati went on to beat Tulsa 80-61 to move on to the quarterfinals against another familiar foe Connecticut at 5 pm Saturday on ESPN2.

Cincinnati shot lights out from the jump and never looked back, Troy Caupain knocked down his first two threes he attempted which is always a welcomed sign. Caupain has made some big shots in March so being aggressive is something that the Bearcats welcome. Jacob Evans and Kyle Washington had monster games both shooting 8 of 10 from the field. Evans was 3 of 3 from three finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Washington finished with a team high in points with 21 and 6 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.

Caupain finished with 6 assists to go over 500 for his career and join Deonta Vaughn as the second player in Bearcats history to have 1200 points and 500 assists. Caupain had 15 points, a team high 7 rebounds and 6 assists Friday night.

Co-sixth man of the year Jarron Cumberland had 9 points off the bench also.

Cincinnati shot 49.2% from the field, 40% from three and 66.7% from the line. The one percentage to keep an eye on is free throws, I would like them to get to the mid 70% is if possible especially in the NCAA tournament. They outrebounded Tulsa 35-27 which is another staple in Cronin teams and is a good sign.

Cincinnati is now 28-4 overall and 16-2 in the AAC.

Managing Editor of Bearcat Insider, I've been on the BCI team the last couple of years. I made the final four in the Biggest Big East Fan contest in 2011, I covered UC also on Cincy on the Prowl. I'm just a lefty trying to get buckets in this game called life Van Exel style.
