Bearcats finish the season with a senior day 22-21 versus UConn

The Cincinnati Bearcats won a thriller against the Connecticut Huskies on Senior Day in both teams last game of the season. The Bearcats season didn’t go how most wanted, but they kept fighting and they got to send out their 20 seniors with a win, which is something the previous senior class didn’t get to experience.

This game went back and forth UConn having the lead early in the first half and a majority of time in the second half. Cincinnati down 6-0 late in the second quarter scored the first touchdown of the game as Hayden Moore hit Kahlil Lewis for a 13 yard score to take the lead (7-6) before halftime.

UConn’s David Pindell put the Bearcats down 12-7 after a 1 yard touchdown run. After another made field goal by UConn the Bearcats went on a 15-0 run Moore hit Lewis for a 12 yard touchdown, followed by Moore hitting Mike Boone for a two point conversion and then Moore scored on a 4 yard run. It seemed that the Bearcats had it all locked up, but a penalty with time running out allowed UConn another play and Pindell found Hergy Mayala for a 2 yard touchdown, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty make the extra point longer than expected and the kicker missed to allow a 22-21 Cincinnati win.

Seniors Jaylyin Minor and Carter Jacobs had huge games. Minor had 15 tackles and Jacobs had 13 tackles and one interception.

Cincinnati finished the game 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the AAC. No bowl game for the Bearcats this season, but it is good to go into the off season with a win a lot of young players got to play this season for the Bearcats so with more recruits that fit the Fickell’s style the better this program will become.
